Instruction Manual for Growing Up
1. Find time to do your favorite things everyday. You could build with Legos, draw or sketch, or play outside. If you have fun each day, it will make you a very happy person.
2. Next, remember to play and act smart. Listen to your parents and teachers, and always follow the rules. Doing this will make you become more respectful.
3. When people are making you angry, talk to your parents and teachers to give you advice about what to do. By learning how to manage your anger at a young age, you will keep yourself from anger the rest of your life.
4. Always be true to your friends. Never lie or treat them poorly. Keep them close to you as long as possible. This will make you a very faithful friend.
5. Learn from parents and siblings to make healthy choices. For example, I leaned by my older brother to never abuse alcohol. He also taught me how to properly exercise to stay fit and healthy.
If you use this manual to help guide you in the right path for a healthy, strong, and respectful life I can assure you are making one of the best choices of your life.

Letter to Juliet
Dear, Juliet
My name is Scout, and I read your book Romeo and Juliet. I have to write an essay about growing up, and I would like to write about you and me. I have been thinking about our fathers and realized that both of our fathers were important as we were growing up.
In some ways our fathers were alike. Both of them loved us very much. For example, your father told Romeo that he had to wait two summers before he could date you. He was trying to protect you so that Romeo wouldn't take advantage of you. My father loves me too. For instance, he won’t let me walk alone but he makes sure that Jem my older brother is always walks with me. He’s trying to make sure that I’m always safe.
However, I believe that my father is more accepting that your father. For example, my father defended a black man named Tom Robinson, who was mistakenly charged for raping a white woman. In this way my father taught me to grow up without prejudice. Your father was less accepting. He didn't allow your family to have any contact with the Montague’s your families arch enemies. You had to secretly talk to Romeo in the bushes. So you learned how to be stealthy and lie to your father.
When I read your story I wished that your father could have been more accepting like my father. This way you would have been able to date Romeo, and learn whether you had found your life partner. Although I am younger than you, I hope someday my father will let me date a nice young man, even if he is different for my family.

Diary Entire
Dear Diary
Today I visited Forman and saw the benefits it gives me for growing up.
It’s a great school for kids with dyslexia. The teachers at Forman will give me help with strategies so that reading and writing will come more easily. Therefore, I will become a more successful reader and writer. Being away from home will make me a more independent person. It will allow me to learn how to advocate for myself. Although being away from my parents makes me nervous, I will learn to deal with my problems more independently. At Forman I will be able to do some of my favorite activities. I can take photography and learn new things that may lead me to a future career. I also can try video editing, which I have some experience in, but I would like to get better at. After visiting Forman I realized there are many different opportunities that will help me grow up.

Poem on Growing up
How does it feel to grow-up?
Can you see the change in a day?
Or maybe a minute?
Do you understand what the word “grow” means?
How does growing impact your life?
Or your mom’s life?
Or even your dog’s life?
How does it make you a better person?
Or even a worse person?
Does aging mean the same thing as growing?
Does it mean you’re getting older and stronger?
Or just older and weaker?
Think about growing
Think deeply
Don't be afraid
It won’t bite
It can only help
Growing is normal
Growing is normal
And changes happen for a reason
Change is a part of growing up.
